About

Dr. Soudabeh Givrad, clinical associate professor at Stanford University, is passionate about supporting families during life's most transformative moments. As a perinatal, infant, child, and adult psychiatrist, she's dedicated to caring for the emotional and psychological needs of parents and young children from the very beginning, and throughout the life course.
Dr. Givrad completed her adult psychiatry residency at Yale University and her child psychiatry fellowship at NewYork-Presbyterian through Weill Cornell and Columbia Universities.
Beyond her perinatal specialty, she also treats mood and anxiety disorders, PTSD, and helps patients navigate life adjustments throughout childhood and adulthood.
At Weill Cornell Medicine and currently at Stanford University, she has focused on creating and expanding maternal and infant mental health services and developing training opportunities for psychiatry trainees in these areas, and supervising child and adult psychiatry residents and fellows. To do this, she has closely collaborated with a multidisciplinary team including obstetricians, neonatologists, and pediatricians.

Mission
Dr. Givrad's goal is simple: helping families and individuals thrive from the very start, and providing continued support throughout childhood, adolescence, and adulthood.
Dr. Givrad is committed to providing comprehensive mental health care that honors each individual's unique journey. She creates a safe and trusting environment where patients and families feel comfortable exploring their emotions, challenges, and goals together.
Her practice specializes in supporting families during critical transitions—from pregnancy and early parenthood through all stages of development—while treating mood and anxiety disorders, PTSD, and life adjustments. Through individualized care and collaborative relationships, she helps build resilience and lasting mental wellness.
She believes that healing happens best when patients feel truly heard, understood, and supported in a space where they can openly explore their experiences without judgment.
Vision
Dr. Givrad envisions a world where mental health care treats the whole person within the context of their most important relationships. Her approach is holistically grounded, recognizing that individual wellbeing is deeply connected to family dynamics, attachment bonds, and social connections.
As a trauma-informed practitioner, she understands how life experiences shape mental health and and believes treatment plans should honor each person's unique history with sensitivity and care.
Dr. Givrad values preventative measures and early intervention, believing that addressing concerns at their earliest stages can prevent more significant challenges and promote lifelong resilience. By focusing on relationships, early detection, and comprehensive care, she aims to create lasting positive change that extends beyond the individual to strengthen entire family systems.
